Software Engineer/Data Specialist (F/M/D)

You don’t need to have participated in the Dakar Rally and you don’t need to know how to replace the radiator grill of a Land Rover Defender – but some love for adventure, trips into remote regions and crazy vehicles would be nice to have.

As a Software Engineer / Data Specialist you hold a university degree in computer science, geo informatics, data science or any comparable field of study. You have experience in database systems (SQL, Postgres, Redis, MongoDB), you have worked with various types of Open Data and Geo-spatial Data (OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, Copernicus, Landsat) and you know criteria to quantify data quality. You develop APIs in Python and you know methods to analyse and visualize big data.

You are used to work in agile teams using Scrum or Kanban and besides all the buzzwords your English is fluent and you speak some decent German.

At Bareways you will acquire new data sources, you will fusion them with existing maps and earth observation data and you will design processes, database architectures and interfaces for a cloud-based navigation service.

You will have flexible working hours of in total 40 hours per week, with the option for mobile work – and in the unlikely event of a night shift, we will adequately compensate that with free time. And if you ever require some extra time for your children, family or a trip around the world, we will find an appropriate working time model for you.

Our offices are located on a technology campus in Lübeck, Germany – with a big park next door for lunch breaks, sport activities or a joint barbecue, which we have regularly in the season.
